Our Purpose, Work and Duties
The Purpose of the Center

Dede Korkut Application and Research Center; To reveal the literary, visual and oral cultural inventory of Dede Korkut by conducting or having conducted descriptive, classifying and historical research on the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Dede Korkut;
To carry the encompassing and unifying power emphasized in Dede Korkut epics/stories, and the values ​​that stand out in Turkish belief, lifestyle and action practices to the context of universal values ​​with various interdisciplinary studies (such as Folklore, Literature, Sociology, History Art History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Fine Arts);
To conduct scientific studies for Dede Korkut, who is included in the UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative List under the name of “Dede Korkut Heritage: Epic, Tale and Music”, to be permanently included in the UNESCO World Heritage List are among the aims of the unit.
The Center's Fields of Activity

To organize academic meetings such as symposiums, panels, conferences through partnerships based on bilateral relations on the protection and improvement of the cultural and historical heritage of Dede Korkut or to represent the unit in these meetings;

To support and include studies on Dede Korkut by launching a website and academic publication on behalf of the Center;

To bring together national and international studies on Dede Korkut Oğuz-names in the digital e-Dede Korkut Library;

To encourage and support local, regional, national and graduate students to choose thesis topics on Dede Korkut and to work in cooperation with relevant academic units for this purpose;

To organize studies in artistic fields such as Dede Korkut-themed poetry, novel, story, tale; painting, sculpture, photography; carpet weaving in order to create awareness of Dede Korkut heritage among young people, especially university students;

To organize events in traditional Turkish sports such as javelin, archery, wrestling;
Organizing cultural trips in the historical geography of Dede Korkut, organizing activities such as mountain hikes and nature camps in order to create awareness of nature and nature.

Duties, Authorities and Responsibilities
Center Bodies

a) Center Director,
b) Board of Directors,
c) Advisory Board.
Center Director and Assistant Directors
The Center Director is assigned by the Rector for a period of three years from among the University faculty members who work in the fields of activity of the Center. The Center Director whose term has expired may be reassigned. The Center Director performs his duties as responsible to the Rector. Two assistant directors are assigned from among the University faculty members upon the recommendation of the Center Director and the approval of the Rector. When the duty of the Center Director ends, the duty of the assistant directors also ends.

The Center Director's duties

a) To convene and chair the Board of Directors,

b) To implement the Board of Directors' decisions,

c) To prepare the Center's work goals and plans, to ensure that they are discussed by the Board of Directors and then to submit them to the Rector for approval,

ç) To ensure that the Center operates effectively, efficiently and in harmony,

d) To cooperate with application and research centers in Turkey and abroad.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of seven members, including the Center Director and deputy directors. Other members are assigned by the Rector for a three-year term from among the University faculty members. In the event of a vacancy in a membership for any reason, the Rector may reassign the Board of Directors upon the recommendation of the Center Director. The Board of Directors is the decision-making body of the Center. The Center Director chairs the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets at least once a month upon the invitation of the Center Director. In extraordinary cases, the Center Director may convene the Board of Directors more frequently. The meeting is held by a simple majority of the participants and decisions are taken by a majority vote.

The duties of the Board of Directors

a) To assist the Director of the Center,

b) To make decisions regarding the management of the Center,

c) To prepare and execute the work program of the Center,

ç) To discuss the activity reports to be submitted to the Rector,

d) To determine the personnel needs,

e) To establish the working groups and committees required for the work of the Center.

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board consists of a maximum of five members, determined by the Board of Directors for a period of three years by the Rector, from within and outside the University, who conduct studies on beekeeping, especially in Bayburt and its surroundings, breed bees, produce honey, are directly related to this field and support these studies, and are civil society organizations known for their knowledge and experience, individuals and, if requested, institutional representatives. The Advisory Board participates in the Board of Directors meetings upon the proposal of the Director when necessary.
