What is the Equivalency Certificate?
International students who have earned the right to final registration at our university and who graduated from secondary education institutions abroad are required to certify that their diplomas are equivalent to the diplomas of secondary education institutions in Türkiye and to submit this certificate to our university during the final registration.
The equivalency procedure is carried out in provincial directorates of national education in metropolitan districts with a population of 250,000 or more within Türkiye, and in education counsellorships or attaché offices abroad.
Students who graduated from schools opened abroad by the Republic of Türkiye and those coming from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are not subject to the equivalency procedure.
The equivalency procedure is carried out through the e-Equivalency Module (the system where equivalency procedures are conducted electronically and information is stored) with the originals of the applicant’s documents at equivalency centers.
Documents required for the equivalency procedure:
- Application Form (For those applying for the equivalency procedure, the “Application Form for Those Who Will Receive an Equivalency Certificate (Annex-1)” is filled in through the e-Equivalency Module, and the originals and one photocopy of the following documents are attached to the form.)
- One of the following: Identity Card, Residence Permit, Temporary Protection Identity Document, International Protection Applicant Identity Card, International Protection Status Holder Identity Card, Stateless Person Identity Card, Passport
- Turkish translations of the documents certified by a notary public or by Turkish Foreign Representative Offices
- Apostille, or in cases where Apostille is not available, a diploma/graduation certificate approved by the ministry of education, the ministry of foreign affairs, or the embassy
- The documents attached to the Application Form for Those Who Will Receive an Equivalency Certificate must be uploaded to the system by the applicant, and the originals must be submitted to the equivalency center.
If the documents are found to be forged or altered, the equivalency will not be granted by the equivalency center, and if already granted, it will be cancelled, and a criminal complaint will be filed with the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor.
