Our Master's Student Busenaz Sürmeneli Left No Great Championship Unfinished as European Champion
Continuing her master's degree at our University in the field of sports sciences, national boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli completed the European Senior Boxing Championship held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, as the champion and left no major tournament unwon. Sürmeneli, who previously brought the pride of the Olympic, World and Mediterranean Games championship to our country, wrote her name in golden letters in boxing history at a young age.
Our graduate student Busenaz Sürmeneli, whose name is kept alive in our University Sports Hall, proved once again that she is the best in her field by clearly superior to her Russian opponent in the final of the European Senior Boxing Championship she successfully passed. The European Senior Boxing Championship, which had a special importance for Sürmeneli who won the first European championship of her career, was awaited with great excitement due to the opportunity to complete the only missing major tournament championship in her career. Sürmeneli, who entered the ring as the biggest favorite of the tournament, won the match once again without misleading the authorities and our public opinion.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen, in his statement to our University news center, said, "It is a credible feeling that an athlete who is one of the greatest athletes in the history of universal sports, who no one doubts is one of the greatest athletes in the world and who all sports academies in the world would gladly accept, is a student of our University. Busenaz is a symbolic name for the future of our athletes. It is important for the vision of our sports education that a name who has passed the career steps that every athlete dreams of is with us. The main goal for Busenaz is to remain at the peak where he has risen in every field with stability. We are proud to walk this path together with Busenaz."
