Under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mesut Öztürk from our Faculty of Education, the training workshop titled "The Education Model of the Turkish Century: Metacognition and Self-Regulation" was hosted by our University. The workshop provided an important platform for the adaptation of the Turkish Century Maarif Model and the correct management of good practices.
The program of the workshop; Starting with the opening speech, information on "Metacognition and metacognition-based teaching", focus group meetings and the introduction of the Turkish Century Maarif Model were held with various activities. In addition, the topics of Metacognition and Self-Regulation of the Turkish Century Maarif Model were discussed in detail. In the workshop, a needs analysis for metacognition-based education was carried out within the scope of the project titled "Metacognitive Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Based Mathematics Teaching (ÜSPIDMAT): Design, Implementation and Evaluation of Teaching Technique" numbered 124K601, which was developed with the support of TÜBİTAK. Participants made suggestions by making small and large group discussions on the ÜSPİDMAT technique.
During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Albayrak, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mesut Öztürk, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Sarıkaya and Res. Asst. Cem Kurdal made valuable presentations and conveyed information to the participants. Bayburt Provincial Director of National Education Rahmi Güney also participated in the workshop as a stakeholder and presented certificates of achievement and a plaque at the closing.
In the workshop, discussions on the effective implementation of the Turkish Century Maarif Model and the management of the adaptation process were of great importance. Participants agreed that the dissemination of metacognition and self-regulation in education will form a basis for the educational models of the future.
Our university will continue to support innovative approaches in education and contribute to the goals of the Turkish Century through such workshops.
