About the Civil Engineering Department
The Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Bayburt University, is a forward-looking academic unit that produces universal knowledge and technology with a research-oriented, participatory, sharing, innovative, and aesthetic approach. With a modern teaching culture, the department is once again actively accepting students. It aims to train competent engineers who respect societal values and meet international standards, just as it has done in the past. Graduates of this department, who have gained substantial expertise over the years, serve the engineering profession both nationally and internationally. The department continues to have a competent faculty and sufficient infrastructure to educate engineers with the same high standards.
 

Establishment

The Faculty of Engineering at Bayburt University was established by the Council of Ministers' decision No. 5765, published in the Official Gazette No. 26892 on May 31, 2008. The Civil Engineering Program operates within the Faculty of Engineering and comprises seven main branches of study: Geotechnics, Hydraulics, Transportation, Mechanics, Structures, Construction Materials, and Construction Management.

Importance of the Civil Engineering Sector

The construction sector plays a crucial role in the development of our country. Its advancement depends on training skilled professionals who can follow the latest scientific and technological developments. Accordingly, the Civil Engineering undergraduate program at the Faculty of Engineering has been redesigned to align with developments in the aforementioned fields, emphasizing practical applications and considering the needs of the industry.

The program integrates foundational engineering courses with advanced training in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, preparing graduates to apply civil engineering principles to modern problems. Degree Awarded

Graduates of the Civil Engineering Department receive the title "Civil Engineer" and gain all the associated professional rights, as they complete a four-year degree program.

The Civil Engineering program is designed to educate engineers who:

Graduates can work in various public and private organizations related to the construction industry (e.g., General Directorate of Highways, State Hydraulic Works, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, municipalities) in fields such as production, quality control, R&D, and design. They may also serve as managers in public institutions and private companies connected to the construction sector.

    • A student cafeteria with a capacity of 150 people (shared by the Faculty of Engineering)
