Our Purpose:
The primary goal of the Faculty of Engineering, in line with the mission and vision of the university, is to educate engineers who contribute to society by delivering scientific knowledge and technology at the highest quality standards. These engineers are expected to uphold ethical values, be environmentally conscious, and possess a strong sense of responsibility. Through its modern infrastructure, laboratory facilities, and advanced technologies, the Faculty of Engineering supports students in developing lifelong learning habits. The faculty encourages its academic staff to engage in innovative research and entrepreneurial activities and guides students’ undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies to meet the needs of the country and the region. Additionally, the faculty offers internship and practical training opportunities within the framework of industrial cooperation to help students enhance their practical skills.
All educational processes are regularly evaluated in line with accreditation standards and quality management principles. The Faculty of Engineering actively participates in national and international accreditation processes to increase the recognition of its education quality and strengthen the global competitiveness of its graduates. In this context, all activities are carried out in accordance with the strategic objectives of the university, with a focus on transparency, reliability, and continuous improvement.
The Faculty of Engineering was established in 2008 under paragraph (a) of Article 97 of the Additional Articles of Law No. 2809 on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions to fulfill the duties and responsibilities within BAYÜ's mission. The Faculty of Engineering includes the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Food Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
Our Work and Duties:
The Faculty of Engineering provides services as specified in the Higher Education Law and other regulations applicable to BAYÜ. It fulfills these duties in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Law and is accountable to the Rectorate for its activities. The roles, authorities, and responsibilities of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Engineering are listed below:
Fulfilling the university's roles, as outlined in Article 12 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, including education, research, publication, and consulting services relevant to its field, Conducting studies in collaboration with relevant institutions on issues beneficial to society, working on solutions to societal and regional problems, sharing results for the public good, and conducting research and investigations requested by public institutions, providing opinions and suggestions on related topics, Planning the activities of all academic and administrative staff to ensure that all faculty operations are carried out efficiently, effectively, economically, and with high quality, Identifying and managing the administrative, financial, and physical resource needs of the faculty and ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources, and planning and utilizing the annual budget in accordance with these plans, Determining the needs for in-service training and preparing annual training plans, Maintaining statistical records related to the faculty’s education, personnel, and physical facilities, Carrying out administrative, disciplinary, and academic procedures related to faculty students and academic and administrative staff, Providing the necessary physical and human conditions for delivering educational services aligned with the curricula planned in the Faculty Programs, Identifying and coordinating the needs for academic and administrative personnel based on the requests reported by the Faculty Units and Programs.
Units:
The Faculty of Engineering carries out these duties through the following affiliated units:
a. Faculty Secretariat:
Assignment and supervision of administrative personnel according to their education, knowledge, and skills,
Overseeing and managing the personnel records and ensuring that administrative and academic staff
Handling internal and external correspondence directed to the Dean’s Office,
Conducting registration, filing, statistical, and archival services and overseeing their management,
Taking measures for the security and cleanliness of the faculty,
Managing work health, safety, and civil defense activities and implementing necessary precautions,
Planning and reporting administrative staff needs to the relevant units,
Evaluating administrative personnel based on performance and facilitating rotation as needed,
Preparing the faculty budget and submitting it to the authorized financial officer,
Ensuring the faculty’s readiness for teaching activities on weekdays and weekends,
Organizing the agendas for Faculty Council meetings and overseeing the distribution of decisions to the relevant parties.
b. Dean’s Secretariat:
Arranging the Dean’s travel, appointments, official and private communications, and confidential correspondence, Organizing, archiving, and filing the Dean’s personal and institutional documents, Preparing the agendas for faculty committees (Administrative Board, Faculty Board, and Faculty Disciplinary Board), recording the decisions made, and distributing them to relevant units, Drafting and sending congratulatory messages on religious and national holidays, Ensuring the upkeep and cleanliness of the Dean’s and Dean’s Secretary’s offices.
c. Document Management Unit:
Managing office tasks, registering incoming and outgoing correspondence, and conducting all types of official correspondence for the faculty in accordance with circulars and instructions, Receiving notifications, maintaining and filing correspondence based on file plans, and archiving or disposing of records that have reached the end of their retention period, Keeping track of changes in laws and regulations.
d. Personnel and Staffing Unit:
Handling personnel affairs for academic and administrative staff, including transfers, appointments, resignations, retirement, military service, contract extensions, promotions, leave, etc., Managing unit correspondence, safeguarding documents in line with regulations, and archiving them as required, Preparing and reporting documents related to the financial obligations of faculty members to the payroll office, Collecting asset declarations in line with the requirements of Law No. 3628 on Asset Declarations and ensuring their confidentiality and submission to relevant authorities.
e. Department Secretariat:
Conducting all correspondence prepared by the Department Chair, Managing all correspondence related to the Faculty and Institutes, Delivering incoming correspondence to the Department Chair and ensuring timely transmission to the Dean's Office, Handling administrative tasks associated with instructors, such as leave applications, assignment letters, staff allocation, departures, commencements, and teaching assignments, Organizing and distributing class rosters, weekly lesson plans, assignment lists, and exam schedules to instructors on time, Maintaining and organizing department bulletin boards, removing expired or irrelevant notices, Managing internal and external mail and distributing department documents to the concerned parties, Collecting weekly lesson plans from faculty members at the beginning of each semester and delivering them to the relevant units, Coordinating tasks between students and faculty members and assisting in communication, Forwarding student and faculty petitions to the Dean’s Office via the Department Chair, Arranging meetings, presentations, and seminars, and preparing and filing minutes and reports, Organizing and maintaining documents required for accreditation efforts and keeping accurate records, Using the automated system to complete departmental processes, Handling requests regarding material errors in grades and notifying students of resolutions, Updating the system with assigned advisors for new students and informing faculty and students, Archiving exam documents received from faculty after the end-of-semester exams, Assisting faculty with copying services, Organizing tasks among personnel to ensure an efficient work environment, Identifying and rectifying any missing or incorrect information in documents submitted by students and faculty, Executing additional tasks assigned by the Dean or Faculty Secretary.
f. Inventory Management and Procurement Unit:
Identifying the faculty’s needs for consumable and fixed assets (such as educational supplies, stationery, building maintenance materials, wooden and metal materials, electronics, technological equipment, machinery, etc.), maintaining inventory records, Identifying maintenance needs for fixed assets and equipment, Preparing inventory control forms, assignment records, count logs, and other documentation, and archiving these records, Recording obsolete fixed assets and reporting them to the relevant unit or committee.
g. Quality/Management System Team:
The aim is to establish, implement, monitor, and ensure the continuity of the Faculty of Engineering’s Quality/Management System in line with the BAYÜ Quality Directive, Quality Policy, and objectives, acting on behalf of the Dean.
The duties and responsibilities of the unit's quality team are as follows:
- Supporting efforts to establish an internal and external quality assurance and integrated quality management system within the unit,
- Conducting activities to establish, spread, and enhance a culture of quality within the unit,
- Coordinating, documenting, and ensuring the organization, implementation, and maintenance of processes related to the unit’s integrated quality management system,
- Supporting the formation of departmental quality commissions, defining their working principles, assisting with their activities, and monitoring these activities.
