As the Library and Documentation Department, our aim is to support the research and teaching carried out at our university by adopting the fastest, most economical and most accurate service approach for information access, to provide and organize scientific and cultural materials that our academic staff, administrative staff, students and external visitors may need in our library and in our units outside the library, and to provide a professional service adapted to the information age.
Bayburt University Central Library, established in 2009, operated in its 3-storey building on the Dede Korkut Campus with a closed area of 650 m2, allowing 140 people to work at the same time, until 22 October 2016.
Our Central Library was moved to our University's Baberti Complex on October 22, 2016, and until the construction of the new service building, it served its users on the 3rd floor of the Bayburt Faculty of Education Dean's Office building, on an area of 1033 square meters, with a capacity of 120 readers at the same time.
Our library started to serve its users with an open shelf system and a total usage area of 11,355 m² in its new building built on our University's Baberti Campus as of September 2018.
The LC (Library of Congress) classification system is used as the classification system. The YORDAM program, which is the most widely used in Turkey, was preferred as the library automation program. With the transition to the RFID system, our library has come closer to the Industry 4.0 logic in the field of digitalization, and the transition to the new automation program has increased information sharing with other universities, provided ease of use for librarianship, and has been an important innovation for the development of our library. Additionally, our users have devices that allow them to browse the catalogue and a wireless internet network to access the internet within the library building.
