Purpose of the Program
Bayburt University Vocational School of Social Sciences Criminal Enforcement and Security Services Program has the objectives of meeting the basic needs of prisoners and convicts such as security, housing, health and education in penal execution administrations and juvenile correctional institutions (juvenile correctional institutions) by training Enforcement and Protection Officers, as well as playing an important role in their reintegration into society. In other words, the main purpose of this program is to train individuals who will be employed in penal institutions and probation directorates and have the qualified workforce needed.
Profile of the Program
The education period of the Penal Execution and Security Services Program is 2 years (4 semesters) and the language of instruction is Turkish.
Graduation Requirements
In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all the courses available in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS), to obtain a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and to successfully complete the internship (30 working days).
Skills Acquired
1. To have the competence to take part in the administration and management of penal execution institutions, to have the necessary professional knowledge, skills and analytical thinking ability to ensure the smooth progress of the functioning in penal execution institutions and to ensure security in the institution.
2. To be able to understand and apply basic law and especially the concepts of execution law, Turkish state organizational structure, execution processes and security services.
3. To be able to use the information learned in the field of law when faced with basic legal problems.
4. To be able to act by taking into account the basic values such as social state, rule of law, rule of law, human rights and freedoms.
5. To know the basic procedural principles of criminal proceedings and to follow the developments in the field of criminal and execution law.
6. To be able to use computer software and information, communication and security technologies at the level required by the field of Criminal and Execution Law.
7. To be able to provide effective communication by analyzing the psychological and social situations of prisoners and convicts at the level needed in working life.
8. To be able to perform the necessary applications in accordance with the rules in emergency situations where basic first aid practices are required and in situations that threaten security.
9. To be able to use many devices, especially detectors and x-ray devices, in security checks in the execution institution.
10. To have the necessary judicial correspondence and communication skills in execution and security services, to be able to realize probation and execution practices.
Earned Degree and Title
When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are provided, an Associate Degree is obtained in this field.
Vertical Transfer Opportunities
After associate degree education, it is possible for students to continue to undergraduate programs of the universities related to the DGS exam.
Job Opportunities
Graduates of the program receive the title of “professional staff” with an associate degree in the field of execution and security services and are employed in penal institutions and probation directorates. They can also take part in security services in the public and private sectors. These people will also be able to work as private security components who can apply the basic knowledge and information in the field of security in practice.
