Our Opportunities We Can Provide to Our Students Upon Their Requests

The opportunities we can provide to our disabled students upon their request, within the scope of the Barrier-Free University Flags application requirements determined by YÖK:

1. Allowing lessons to be recorded with a voice recorder and/or providing disabled students with access to voice recordings of lessons,(Services accepted within the scope of this article: Allowing disabled students to record audio during lessons, providing students with a voice recorder if needed, providing professional audio recordings of lectures, and/or allowing disabled students to access audio recordings)

2.To provide lecture notes and presentations to students,(Service accepted within the scope of this article: Providing lecture notes and presentations to disabled students in printout and/or electronic format at the beginning of the semester (within the first two weeks of the semester) or at least 48 hours before each lesson, upon the request of disabled students.

3. To enable disabled students to take the exam individually, if necessary,(For this practice, the legal basis (directive, regulation, etc.) must be created and the necessary precautions for exam security [such as ÖSYM exam application security measures] must be taken.).

4. To enable disabled students to take exams in different formats when necessary,(A legal basis (directive, regulation, etc.) must be established for this practice. Services accepted within the scope of this article: In accordance with the needs of disabled students, upon their request, to conduct an oral exam instead of a written exam, to prepare the exam with Braille and/or providing the opportunity to answer questions, giving the exam in a larger font size, giving the exam on a computer/tablet environment, etc.).

5. Providing reader and marker/writer opportunities in exams,(Services accepted within the scope of this article: Providing a reader to read the questions if the disabled student requests in the exams and providing a marker to mark the answers the student will give to the questions and/or make the actions he/she will say in writing).

6.Giving additional time to students during exams,(Services accepted within the scope of this article: Upon the request of disabled students, they are given up to 50% of the normal exam time, 20 minutes for exams below 60 questions, 30 minutes for exams with 60 questions and above, or additional time as needed).

7.Providing course syllabuses for all courses(Service accepted within the scope of this article: If requested by the disabled student, providing the syllabus/program explaining in detail the detailed plan of the course, weekly topics to be covered, assignments, evaluation criteria, attendance requirements, expectations, etc. in written and/or electronic format according to the student's preference) .

8.Providing academic support opportunities,(Services accepted within the scope of this article: Providing repetition of courses with peer support or providing individual support in different formats and/or providing individual support in subjects/lessons that students request support through support education classes).

9. Providing note takers in classes and delivering the notes to students,(Service accepted within the scope of this article: Arranging for an officer who takes notes on what is explained during the lesson and ensuring that these notes are delivered to disabled students in written and/or electronic format, according to the students' preferences, immediately after the lesson).

10. Providing electronic formats, audio recordings or printing of lecture notes and presentations in Braille alphabet,(Service accepted within the scope of this article: Providing the electronic format of all course-related notes and presentations, audio or Braille printing, and ensuring disabled students have access to these resources at the beginning of the semester (within the first two weeks of the semester) or at least 48 hours before each lesson).

11. Providing electronic formats, audio recordings or printing of textbooks/resources with Braille alphabet,(Services accepted within the scope of this article: Different practices such as providing accessible electronic copies of the books followed in classes, audio or Braille printing, and ensuring disabled students have access to these books at the beginning of the semester (within the first two weeks of the semester) or at least 48 hours before each lesson. to do).

12. Evaluating the demands of disabled students and arranging the exam schedule to have a maximum of two exams in one day.

13.Using visual elements in exams to increase the understandability of questions,(Service accepted within the scope of this article: Adding pictures of words, information and concepts to the relevant sections of the questions in the exam questions, upon the request of disabled students).

14. Providing course partnership services,(Service accepted within the scope of this article: Providing a lesson partner who can support students with disabilities who cannot follow the lesson efficiently in the classroom in English, Arabic, mathematics, Ottoman Turkish, etc., outside of class).

15. Ensuring that lessons are broadcast live on the internet and/or allowing students to watch video recordings of the lessons,(Services accepted within the scope of this article: Ensuring that the courses in which disabled students are registered are broadcast live on an electronic platform and/or providing professional video recordings of the courses and allowing students to access these video recordings)

16. Providing the opportunity to practice by taking a break from the exams,(Service accepted within the scope of this article: Dividing the exam questions into groups (groups of 1-2 questions) upon the request of disabled students and taking breaks between question groups while administering the exam.)

17. Providing subtitles on all visual and audio materials used in classes,(Services accepted within the scope of this article: Providing subtitles in visual educational materials such as films and videos upon the request of disabled students, providing written transcripts of voice recordings in audio materials)

18. Providing audio descriptions in all visual materials used in lessons,(Services accepted within the scope of this article: Providing audio description services in visual-based educational materials such as films and videos upon the request of disabled students and/or using audio-described versions of these materials).

19. Providing technological materials that convert written materials into sound,(Services accepted within the scope of this article: Making technological materials that convert written materials into sound available to disabled students within the university upon the request of disabled students and/or enabling students to borrow these technological materials)

20. Classes, halls, spaces, etc. within the faculty. Providing voice navigation service to access environments,(Providing students with access to the audio wayfinding service covering open and closed areas within the faculty).

21. Providing an Induction Loop System in classrooms/halls (Service accepted within the scope of this article: Ensuring that the Induction Loop System, which enables individuals using hearing aids to hear better, is available in the classrooms and halls where lectures and conferences are held).

22. Opening the faculty's computer laboratories to the use of all disabled students (Each computer laboratory has computer(s) designated for the use of disabled students only).
 

Information on Contribution Fee and Scholarship Aid for Disabled Students:

In the tuition fee and/or student contribution fee transactions carried out by the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, discounts are applied to the tuition fee and/or student contribution fees in accordance with the disability rates for students with disabilities who are in second education or primary education and exceed the maximum period, if they apply on time.

For scholarships given to students by the Turkish Disabled Sports Aid and Education Foundation, additional quotas are applied to disabled people if they apply on time.

Disabled students are given priority among the students who apply to academic units on time for Part-Time Work carried out by the Department of Health, Culture and Sports.
