Our Aim;
The purpose of establishing Bayburt University Disabled Student Unit Coordinatorship is to ensure that disabled students registered at Bayburt University; To take the necessary precautions by eliminating the problems they encounter in course and exam practices due to their disability and to ensure equal opportunity in education.
Our Work and Duties;
- To meet the needs of disabled students enrolled in Bayburt University programs while they continue their education, to identify the obstacles they may encounter and the measures to be taken against them, to offer solutions to eliminate these obstacles, and to make the necessary arrangements,
- To ensure that the education environment in which students with disabilities continue their academic programs in a way that does not hinder their academic, physical, psychological and social lives, and to make decisions regarding the preparation of special course materials and appropriate education, research and accommodation environments,
- To carry out activities related to disability for students, faculty members and administrative staff at higher education level, to define disability and disabled people, to prepare documents containing the grievances it brings and the necessary arrangements to be made, to increase the level of awareness, to provide consultancy services, to provide in-service training when necessary,
- To prepare and execute the work program of the unit and to prepare the annual budget draft and annual activity report and submit it to the Rector of Bayburt University,
- Developing programs and projects, organizing seminars, conferences and similar activities,
- To ensure that the University website is accessible, which includes publications and documents for the parties involved in the issues that fall within the scope of duty and activity of the Disabled Student Unit, allowing students to express their requests and problems,
- To supervise the implementation of the decisions taken and strategies determined by the Board of Directors,
- To provide necessary tools and equipment to help disabled students with financial difficulties continue their education,
- To take the necessary precautions and make arrangements regarding the differences arising from the duration, venue, material, companion and nature of the disability regarding the examination of disabled students, under equal conditions with other students, without compromising the equality of opportunity between them,
- To ensure that students taking the Community Service Practices course practice in the Disabled Student Unit in order to help disabled students,
- To provide information to disabled students on employment opportunities and venues,
- To encourage disabled students to benefit from activities at our university and to take active roles in student communities so that they can improve themselves, especially academically,
- To monitor the reporting of activity and evaluation reports submitted to the Rectorate to the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education every year,
- To make the necessary determinations and follow up the infrastructure works with the relevant units (relevant Academic Unit and Construction Works and Technical Department) to ensure the full participation of the disabled student in educational life and to ensure education and physical accessibility throughout the university,
- To ensure that all activities and studies carried out by the disabled student unit are recorded and reported.
Our Working Principles;
- Confidentiality: Bayburt University Disabled Student Unit Coordination does not share the identity or status of the student who reports that he/she is disabled with persons or institutions without his/her permission.
- Volunteering: Bayburt University Disabled Student Unit Coordination makes efforts for students to report their disabilities, but it is essential that students volunteer to receive services.
- Respect: Bayburt University Disabled Student Unit Coordination Office tries to provide services by respecting the individual differences of disabled students, taking into account that individuals' needs and competencies may be different.
- Responsibility: Bayburt University Disabled Student Unit Coordinatorship is responsible for the adaptation of disabled students to university life, and the student applying to the Unit also has individual responsibility for the process.
- Team Work: Bayburt University Disabled Student Unit Coordination works with relevant persons or units to produce facilitating learning and evaluation solutions according to the student's individual situation during the academic life processes of the students.
- Accessibility: Bayburt University Disabled Student Unit Coordination Office works together with other relevant units of the university to ensure that disabled students have healthy access to all areas of the university.
