**Question-17:** I missed the National Internship Program (NIP) application dates through the Career Gateway platform, but I want to do an internship in a public institution. What should I do in this case?
**Answer-17:** Students who do not or cannot apply for the National Internship Program (USP) through the Career Gateway platform must be subject to one of the exceptional circumstances determined according to the National Internship Program Implementation Directive of the Human Resources Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey in order to be able to do an internship in a public institution.
EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES
ARTICLE 8- (1)
(1) There are exceptions within the scope of the National Internship Program, and in order to prevent the victimization of the candidates, employment may be carried out outside the Career Gateway Platform within the scope of the legislation to which the institutions are subject. These exceptions are as follows;
a) Internship practices of Faculty of Medicine students,
b) 7+1 and 3+1 education practices,
c) Compulsory internship practices of 1st year undergraduate students,
ç) For civil servants, contracted personnel and workers working in public institutions, the internship practices they want to complete in the institution they work for,
d) Students within the scope of the “applied course” provisions in the “Framework Regulation on Applied Education in Higher Education”,
e) In the event that the inability of senior students who are obliged to do their internship in a public institution to do an internship within the scope of the National Internship Program constitutes an obstacle to their graduation and this situation is confirmed by the institution where they are studying (Dean's Office for Universities, Directorate for Vocational Schools / Higher Schools) and notified in writing to the public institution where the internship will be done; The relevant internship request may be exempted if it is carefully examined and deemed appropriate by the public institution to be interned.
(2) Within the framework of the National Internship Program, secondary school students in Organized Industrial Zones will be able to do internship as a pilot application. In order to prevent students from experiencing victimization, internship applications of secondary education institution students in Organized Industrial Zones and other Vocational and Technical Secondary Education Institutions students who do not apply to the National Internship Program may be exempted.
