Bayburt University Faculty of Applied Sciences was initially established under the name School of Applied Sciences by decree number 2016/8555 on February 16, 2016, by the Council of Ministers, in accordance with the additional Article 30 of Law No. 2809 dated March 28, 1983, upon the recommendation of the Ministry of National Education. On July 13, 2016, the opening of the Department of Organic Farming Management and the Department of Management Information Systems was approved by the Higher Education Executive Board, in accordance with Article 3 of Law No. 2809 and Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 as amended by Law No. 2880. Additionally, on December 19, 2017, the Higher Education Executive Board approved the establishment of the Department of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management and the Department of Social Work at our school, in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 as amended by Law No. 2880.
On June 4, 2018, by decree number 2018/11959 of the Council of Ministers, the School of Applied Sciences was dissolved and restructured as the Faculty of Applied Sciences. After the faculty’s establishment, approval was granted for the opening of new departments, including “Digital Game Design,” “Customs Management,” and “Gastronomy and Culinary Arts.” Among these, the Department of Customs Management became active and began admitting students in the 2021-2022 academic year.
